Business Development Manager


Our team is looking for a business development manager to join Valerann and expedite Valerann’s growth; helping spread our life saving technology to roads around the world. 

As business development manager you will be responsible for improving and growing the business, by establishing and developing relationships with customers, suppliers and other partners. You'll identify new business opportunities in order to generate revenue, improve profitability and help the business grow.

Your work will involve careful strategic planning and positioning in the appropriate territories, and enhancing the operation of the business, position and reputation in the ITS market.

What you will do?

  • Research and identify business opportunities in the US- including, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services
  • Create, grow and maintain a pipeline of potential clients and projects for Valerann’s SaaS product and solution
  • Build strong relationships with our partner and client organizations, to help us deliver value to their operation and make sure we understand how to serve them best
  • Use a recognised Consultative/Solution Sales methodology and tools and buyer-aligned sales process to manage sales cycles and communicate current state and next steps internally to Valerann staff
  • Develop partnerships with other technology organisations to support Valerann’s grow to market in the US
  • Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business
  • work strategically - carrying out necessary planning in order to implement operational changes
  • Collaborate with product and technology teams to construct solutions to the client’s operational and technological requirements.
  • Completes quotes/bids, RFI/RPFs with the assistance of other Valerann personnel, in order to produce a high- quality, concise, complete Valerann deliverable.
  • Negotiates contracts with customers, leveraging the assistance of exec and tech team.
  • Develops territory strategies and account plans independently and to achieve software revenue from complex multi-year deals that drive significant customer value
  • Develop and meet prescribed Sales KPI metrics and expectations weekly, specifically around customer facing activity levels, prospecting and pipeline growth and management
  • Support clients after the sale and make sure the projects we deliver are a success


Who you are?

  • You have 4-8 year track record of documented over-achievement against sales targets in the traffic management, ITS, and/or road construction & maintenance space both with public sector and private operator clients
  • You also have 1-2 years experience with cloud based solutions and SaaS enterprise sales (as part of the above or in addition)
  • You have a proven track record in handling long, complex sales cycles from beginning to end or have implemented complex ITS systems within organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships at all levels of a customer organisation, and have existing relationships you can leverage.
  • You recognise the importance of governance and sales process and have experience in setting up such processes
  • You show professionalism in all undertakings not least timeliness, self-awareness, seeking guidance and development and conducting tasks to best of his/her ability
  • You are excited about the world of transport and Valerann’s mission to make road operators a central player in the future of mobility

Additional job requirements

  • Located in the USA, ideally in the East Coast, working fully remote
  • Will require travel to client locations in North America, and at times worldwide (when permitted)
